Meet the New and Exciting Cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the highly-anticipated sequel to Marvel’s 2018 blockbuster hit Black Panther, is set to bring back some familiar faces but also introduce some new and exciting characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the titular character of T’Challa in the first film, tragically passed away in August 2020. The film’s director, Ryan Coogler, has since committed to honoring Boseman’s legacy and not recasting the role of T’Challa.

In a recent interview with Variety, Coogler said, “I’m not going to have a CG Chadwick and I’m not recasting T’Challa. Our king has died in real life, not only in fiction, and we take that seriously.”

So, who will take the mantle of Black Panther in the upcoming film? That has yet to be revealed, but the cast of Wakanda Forever promises to be just as impressive as the first film.

1. Namor the Sub-Mariner – Rumored to be played by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, Namor is a Marvel Comics superhero and a member of the X-Men. As a half-human, half-Atlantean, Namor has a strong connection to the underwater world and has often been seen as a rival to King T’Challa.

2. Zanda – British-Zimbabwean actress Florence Kasumba will reprise her role as Ayo, one of the Dora Milaje, but also take on a new character named Zanda. In the comics, Zanda is the queen of Narobia, a fictional African country neighboring Wakanda.

3. M’baku – Winston Duke returns as M’baku, the leader of the Jabari tribe in Wakanda. In the first film, M’baku played a vital role in helping T’Challa reclaim his throne.

4. Shuri – Letitia Wright also returns as Shuri, T’Challa’s younger sister who is a genius inventor and the technological heart of Wakanda.

5. Okoye – Danai Gurira also reprises her role as Okoye, the head of the Dora Milaje and one of T’Challa’s most trusted advisors.

6. Nakia – Lupita Nyong’o returns as Nakia, a member of the Dora Milaje and T’Challa’s former love interest.

These are just a few of the characters who will be returning or making their debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Other rumored characters include Ironheart, a teenage genius inventor named Riri Williams who takes on the mantle of Iron Man, and the villainous Morlun, who is known for his ability to drain the life force of his opponents.
